Tento nádherný hymnus sv.Tomáš Akvinský  - 1225-1274 -  zložil k úcte Ježiša Krista v Najsvätejšej Sviatosti Oltárnej na žiadosť pápeža Urbana IV: - 1261-1264 z priležitosti ustanovenia sviatku Tela Kristovho v r.1264. V rímskom misáli je hymnus uvedený ako modlitba na poďakovanie po svätej omši. Veriaci, ktorí zbožne majú účasť na tejto modlitbe, získavajú čiastočne odpustky.

skutočne v tejto forme prítomný- nachádzajúci sa,

podriaduje sa ti cele moje srdce,

pretoze pri  kontemplovani teba / pri dívaní sa na teba/, sa vsetko ine vytraca / všetko zlýhava/.

 Devoutly I adore thee, hidden Godhead,

because, in contemplating thee, everything [else] is found lacking. 

Hidden God, devoutly I adore Thee,

truly present underneath these veils:
